The first printed Detective novel in bengali was “Bakaullah’s Doptor”. It was published in around 1896. At that time the Police Department did not have any separate detective section. So a police inspector called ‘ Daroga’ handled the crime cases by their own. At one time they became the real detectives. 

This is a book that contains the oldest detective stories in a new look and style. Nowadays, detectives solve mystery cases.  But you can find the Darogas were handling one after one unique  cases in the novel named ” Daroga Jokhon Goyenda”. Saurav Bandyopadhyay rewrites these stories in today’s modern language which everyone will like to read.
